Research Summary:Many high profile infectious diseases such as tobacco mosaic, SARS, avian flu, West Nile, dengue and AIDS, are caused by viruses with an RNA genome. Our research programs focus on defining a role of RNA silencing (also known as RNAi) in virus infection of several model organisms, including Arabidopsis (Plant Cell 16:1302-13), Drosophila melanogaster (Science 296:1319-21), and Caenorhabditis elegans (Nature 436: 1040-43).
