Postdoc position at University of Pennsylvania in lab of Susan Weiss.
Our lab studies coronavirus host interaction focused on innate immune response. We use the well-developed murine coronavirus model of encephalitis and hepatitis for in vitro and in vivo studies as well as newer studies of MERS-CoV to investigate cell types and organ specific interactions of virus with type I interferon signaling response.
Research directions:
1. MHV and MERS-CoV encoded phoshodiesterases that cleave 2’,5’ oligoadenylates thereby antagonizing RNase L activation.
2. Role of Oligoadenylate Synthetase (OAS) proteins in antiviral response.
3. Cell type and organ specific differences in expression of interferon pathways and the implications for viral pathogenesis
4. Coronavirus antagonism of IFN induction and signaling pathways.
