近期德国等欧洲国家流行的The organism causing the outbreak has been identified as a strain of E. coli O104:H4 that produces a Shiga toxin and causes an illness similar to infection with E. coli O157:H7.

肠出血性大肠杆菌(EHEC)是能引起人的出血性腹泻和肠炎的一群大肠埃希氏菌。以O157:H7血清型为代表菌株。
