该杂志由美国临床化学协会(American Association for Clinical Chemistry)主办，编委和主编都是检验界最顶级的专家，现任编委为Nader Rifai，是心血管疾病标志物的专家。来自中国的编委只有一个，是香港中文大学的卢煜明教授，循环核酸检测领域的权威。

2007年影响因子2.601，刊登范围和临床化学杂志差不多，但是影响力不如临床化学杂志。国人在上面发的文章还是比较多的，平均每期占20％左右，可能是因为编委中有好几个是有感在国内工作的。也主要刊登一些指标的评价，检验技术的评价和一些基础医学的研究。我也常常关注这本杂志，但是感觉这本杂志好像于临床化学或多或少有些偏离，因为上面关于SNP的文章实在太多，大约占了50％左右的份额。
